Its not usually a big deal on this board so I thought I would have a thread for everything.

Not much in high end talent but the Wings do have a few players to watch:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Worl ... rs#_Canada

Denmark

Malte Setkov D : 2017 round 4 #100 overall by Detroit Red Wings.

Finland

Kasper Kotkansalo D : 2017 round 3 #71 overall by Detroit Red Wings. I can't see him getting much time on the Finns blue line that includes Heiskanen, Välimäki, Juolevi, Vaakanainen,Jokiharju, and Salo. All are top 2 round picks.

Sweden

Filip Larsson G : 2016 round 6 #167 overall by Detroit Red Wings

Gustav Lindström: 2017 round 2 #38 overall by Detroit Red Wings

The other fun to watch for are the 2018 draft eligible players. Some of note:

Rasmus Dahlin D: Sweden. Ranked #1 by the ISS. With the state of our defense, I'd love to see him in a Red Wing uniform.

http://nationalpost.com/sports/hockey/m ... k-karlsson

Andrei Svechnikov RW/C: Russia. Ranked #2 by the ISS. Scoring goals is what he does. He has nearly a goal/game pace in the OHL with 14 goals in 16 games after returning from a hand injury.

Brady Tkachuk C: USA. Ranked #3 by the ISS. From what I hear he's a lot like his brother but more of an asshole out on the ice. I'm a big fan of Matthew so I can't wait to see Brady.

http://nationalpost.com/sports/hockey/u ... nd-nastier

Filip Zadina RW: Czech Rep. Ranked #4 by the ISS. "like Tatar on steroids".

https://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2017/ ... lip-zadina

Quinn Hughes D : USA. Ranked #5 by ISS. Supposed to be a wizard with the puck. It's not often you see a 5'9 player, especially a Dman ranked this highly.

Czech Rep has some high end skill that's fun to watch. Hurricane's 2017 1st rounder Martin Necas and Rangers 1st rounder Filip Chytil don't have a lot to work with on their team but they make things happen every time they are out on the ice with some high end skill with the puck. Zadina and Ostap Safin will help carry the Czechs offensively.

As far as I can tell TSN is the only legal way to stream the games, and then only if you're in Canada(?)

There are some promising leads on Reddit, for the curious.

Czechs beat the Russians 5-4.

The Czechs looked like the better team overall. Russian starter Melnichuck let in 5 goals on 21 shots but he didn't have much help in front of him.

Overall the Czech's best players came to play and Russia looked like they slept in. The Russians had a couple goals in the last two minutes to make it close but overall the Czechs were the better team.

Russia's coaching always makes me wonder. Bragin's straight rolling of lines and his refusal to play young players. I might have given Svechnikov a shot on the PP when you are 0/6 in the game.

Zadina looked really good. He's a strong kid with good size and looks very confident playing at this level. He had a goal, an assist and 3 shots on goal in the game.

Which is good for him because he is not an early favorite to make the actual All-Tournament Team.

2-1 Canada with 7:41 to go in the first.

Kotkansalo got burned on the 1st Canadian goal as he let his man blow by him and score a questionable goal.

I watched some of the first period of the USA game. Certainly not enough of a look to make any kind of an evaluation but Setko looks like a huge Amazonian girl and he got a lot of ice-time. He lost his stick on one of the US goals and his man scored the goal although Svetkov did his best to cover him without a stick.

Gustavsson got the start for Sweden and faced only 9 shots and Lindstrom recorded an assist In a 6-1 victory over Belarus.
