My take on Svechnikov is that 1) his skating is not very strong. Especially his first few steps. 2) His puck skills aren't elite by any stretch.
Someone early on compared him a bit to Abdelkader. I guess I can see it. I don't think he's as defensive minded or physical. But he's fairly big, with a big frame, and he goes to the net.
I did watch several Griffs' playoff games last year and the deeper the playoffs went, the more invisible he became.
I think you're looking at a less defensive version of Abdelkader. A guy who plays top 9 or top 6, but maybe best suited for line 3. I do think he has a bit more in the way of offensive gifts, though.
