They've managed to put up some points, but Larkin is as good set-up man as Helm.

I still think they need to put Mantha with Zetterberg. Maybe Goose with Larkin -- he might be able to slow Larkin down a bit.

I won't disagree that Larkin isn't a good playmaker, Mantha was the guy that seemed to be able to set up Frk for shots and they seemed to work well together. I think the reason they worked as a line was Larkin brought speed and could back off the D while Mantha was able to slow things down and make plays while Frk gets open to rip it. Frk and Mantha would probably work well with Z too. Frk with Nielsen and Helm is just a waste of Frk, neither of the other two do anything well.

3 goals in 4 games, he will have to go ice cold for 10 games to get pushed out...(since his name isn't Sheahan).

Good for Jensen to step in after that hit on XO, but, good lord, he didn't even throw one punch.

This Jensen experiment really needs to end. Can they not recall McIlrath? At least he has some hockey sense and can fight.

Larkin sets up Glendening for a shorthanded goal, 3-2. Then Nielsen with an EN one, 4-2.

Bank those points! Bank those points! We'll see how things go tonight but so far it's looking like the Wings are not a lottery team, especially with Howard in net.

Next week perhaps we get an idea how far they are from the playoff teams.

It will really be a big problem going forward if this team manages to hang around and stay relevant.

Green's 6 mil will be eaten up by Mantha and Larkin. Holland should be forced to go with another cheap young D by that, but based on the Dailey signing, we can't count on that.

We need to move Sheahan for a pick or prospect and get AA in here now. Then we need to move a forward or E or Kronwall. This cap situation needs to get addressed before more young talent is lost or further mismanaged.

to date i cant recall any real young talent that was "lost". You can argue mismanaged and or ruined, but most of the guys if not all the guys we waived just got waived again and again. Some of the guys we traded too.

So far this team seams somewhat jeckyl and hyde. They looked awful in most of the dallas game but at times showed some pushback and controlled the tempo. They looked terrible in the first period in phx but pulled it together in the second and third. The one consistent thing you can say in 3 of the 4 games, is that howard looks great and in this league that can be the difference in alot of games, which combining with the power play and mrazeks play last year, is a big part of the reason we finished so far out.

Frk has the bomb on the power play so thats helped out alot, but imo hes not doing alot at ES. That line in fact iirc has all their goals on special teams. LArkin mantha and frk that is. Id think about maybe swapping frk and nyquist. Frk benefiting from Z as a passer. Nyquist providing more passing to slow the tempo for mantha and larkin.

For those saying frk will need to cool down at least 5-10 games for blashill to do anything with him, he started in dallas on the 3rd line with abby being promoted (blash had that awesome idea in preseason before abby got hurt and frk earned the spot) IT looked terrible in dallas but that didnt stop him from going right back to it last night.

Kronner is the least of my concerns he looked ok last night and is miles better than jensen or XO, even on 1 leg. HEs got great on ice vision and really thinks the game ahead in terms of passing and moving into open spaces which is one of the biggest problems on our D, especially in jensen, xo ddk and E. These guys are routinely passing to forwards that are covered, or lining them up to get mashed, or passing to nobody at all, or getting stripped of the puck, or just throwing it deep, its a transition killer.

my biggest concern is a 3rd line (as the season started) making nearly 13 mil that really isnt even generating quality chances, or playing well defensively. MAybe nielsen bounces back this year. IT took green a year to adapt. But if i was going to trim some fat id start with abby helm or nielsen. Nielsen in particular just hasnt really seemed to click with anyone. OF course those are all lengthy and pricey contracts that would be hard to move. E is another one, ddk could potentially be one as well. Jensen, not that it helps our cap, id move for a bag of pucks.

The 4th line has spent most of their shifts buried in their own end, so there is that too. Woudlnt mind dumping 2 of glenny, sheahan, nielsen abby and helm (or all of them for that matter.)
