This team may suck and the management may be awful, but it's really more about having a tradition of going to games and being with family. My boy is almost old enough to understand the action. Gotta teach him to yell "Shaibu!"
Good tradition to start with your son, how old is he?
Actually, the tradition has been going for almost 20 years now. About 20 years ago, my dad took me and my brother to our first hockey game. We were not small kids at that point. It was just the first time my dad could afford to do this. We went to Madison Square Garden and could not get tickets at the ticket window (freely accessible at that time, by the way), so we decided to buy them from a scalper. Bad decision... the scalper took advantage of us and sold us fake tickets.
Ever since then, I get my dad three tickets for his birthday and we all go to see a game and spend time together. It's not always MSG and it's not always the Wings, but we always see a game. We went to the Vancouver Olympics and to the WJC in Toronto a few years back when my old man hit a big round number. My kid just turned 3, so it'll be four tickets soon I reckon.
